Welcome to Lochmaben Parish Church, we invite you to come and visit:

"Where everyone's welcome, nobody's perfect, and anything is possible".

Our Sunday Morning Service at 11.30am is traditional with a great Organist and Choir to enhance our Worship.
Relaxed Christian fellowship follows afterwards over tea, coffee and biscuits in the Church Meeting Room.
Our Sunday Evening Gathering at 7pm is much less formal, where over tea/coffee and biscuits, we discuss Biblical teaching, contemporary issues, and local outreach initiatives.
And on Fridays, at 7.15pm, we have a short meeting for prayer and reflection in the Church Hall.

OUR Church Of Scotland Parish Minister:
Rev Paul Read MA(Th)

A combination of circumstances led Paul, our Minister, to be ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA in January 2000, following a long and successful career as an airline pilot-captain which involved travelling to many corners of the world.

He would say that he was the least likely of "candidates" for such a calling, but encouraged by many he responded to God's call and came to Scotland, on a very cold wintry Benbecula day in January 2003.

He served as a Locum there for five months, before transferring to the Church of Scotland.

After further assignments in Islay, Caithness and Aberdeenshire, he and his family accepted the call to serve the 600+ members of Lochmaben (linked with Applegarth, Sibbaldbie and Johnstone) in October 2013.

Paul, as our Minister, has a spontaneous love for God's Word and people both from within and without the Church community, and a desire to maintain his and the Church's involvement in the Church in Kenya, Zambia and Malawi.

Our Church of Scotland Presbytery Deacon
(shared with Lockerbie and Moffat):
Mrs Angela Brydson BA(Th)

Angela, was appointed Presbytery Deacon in December 2014, and is attached to three charges. One of these is our Parish of Lochmaben which is linked with the Parish of Applegarth, Sibbaldbie and Johnstone. The others charges are at Lockerbie and Moffat.

Angela was born and brought up just outside Kilmarnock.  Her mother’s family had links to Dumfriesshire. Angela trained as a Nursery Nurse and worked on and off for nearly 18 years in various roles in education.

Angela had a strong sense of God’s calling as a teenager and in 2007 she joined the Church of Scotland’s Deacon training programme. She gained her Theology degree through distance-learning at Dingwall’s Highland Theological College. In her spare time Angela enjoys gardening and crafting.

Angela is looking forward to building on the community connections she made here during her probationary training.
